Pure Annoyance

This is going to be a short posting, but a very important one.

I have lived in Utah my entire life, and I love this place. However, if I hear the Utah television news anchors say the word "cop" instead of "police officer" on the air one more time, I may have to move. Don't they read a prompt or a script when they're speaking? If so, does that mean that behind the scenes there is another person who would rather use a slang word than the proper one? Do the other anchors and producers not pay attention? Where did formality and professionalism go? Cop? Really?

I can just see it: tomorrow night I will turn on the TV and hear one of our local television personalities saying "well, they busted the man who robbed that joint and threw him in the pen."

I am embarrassed and annoyed. If you know anyone in the television news industry, please pass this along. PLEASE!
